Most of the patients have uncomplicated diverticulosis and this does not show any symptoms. As complications, there can be inflammation and bleeding. Diverticulosis can bee established with X-ray or coloscopy. Diverticulosis is caused by increased pressure in the intestine as a result of a protracted Constipation. A low content of fibers in the food makes the sickness more common in countries with welfare. The disease is more common in developed countries with a high living standard due to the lower fiber content in the diet. It is also more common among older people as the condition takes many years to develop before any symptoms show up. Symptoms of sigmoid diverticulosisSymptoms of diverticulosis (if they show up at all) can be some or all of these:
It can be treated with surgery but it is not common. Some medications used against the condition are: Ciprofloxacin: Around 50% of all adults in the western population has developed diverticulosis to some extent, while adults in developing countries have the condition at a much lower rate. This is usually attributed to the fact of the higher fiber content in the food of lower developed countries as opposed to the high level of processed, fiber-less foods in the western world. We have seen a large increas of diverticulitis over the last decades in the west and this is strongly connected to junk food, saturated fats etc. The condition of sigmoid diverticulosis is when in the colon area - mainly in the sigmoid where there is a higher pressure - small "balloon" like bursts in the intestinal wall are formed along the naturally weaker spots. These usually creates no large discomfort but in severe cases there can be inflammations and other complications. Using regular colon clense is a good way to avoid developing this condition.. There is also the term diverticulitis, which is not the same as diverticuloses. Diverticulitis is when the "balloons" on the sigmoid gets infected when bacteria from the colon leaks out through the now much thinner wall. If this complication occurs, it will become necessary to treat the diverticulitis medically (and maybe with surgery), colon clensing is no longer enough as it is mainly a preventive measure in the first place. |
